Is your project viable?
CSNW is currently pursuing emission-reduction projects in the United States, Canada, and Europe. When successfully implemented, these initiatives will generate approximately 8 million tons CO2e of emissions reductions between 2008 and 2012. CSNW’s activities will also realize development of significant quantities of RECs. In this regard, we are working actively with a handful of established companies and well-recognized carbon developers, including 3Degrees, Inc., on development of several emission-reduction initiatives.
When considering the development of either VERs or RECs, the following issues need to be addressed:
- Project Ownership (in general) and ownership of the undeveloped environmental attributes (in particular);
- Project Location;
- Project Volume, i.e.: How many metric tons of CO2 emissions reductions and/or how many megawatt hours is the project likely to generate;
- With respect to emission-reduction initiatives, is there an existing Protocol which enables quantification and monetization of the resulting emissions reductions; and,
- Where carbon-related projects are concerned, are there technical, institutional, and/or financial barriers which might preclude project implementation in the absence of carbon-related revenue.
